Albin G. Pearson Jr, 86, of Harmonsburg, passed away surrounded by his loving family, on Sunday, June 9, 2024, at his residence.
He was born in DuBois, PA to the late Albin G. Pearson Sr. and Alice Benyon on September 22, 1937.
Albin graduated from DuBois High School in 1956 where he was active in the fire department and Boy Scouts until he enlisted in the United States Navy. After a 4-year enlistment in the Navy he joined the Pennsylvania State Police in 1961. On the 21st of July 1962 he married Carol D. Shelatz of Harmonsburg, PA.
During his time as a State Policeman, he was also active in the Army Reserve as a Criminal Investigator in the Criminal Investigation Division. After serving his state and community for over 22 years, he retired from the State Police in 1983. Following his retirement Albin graduated polygraph school in San Diego, CA and took a position as a private investigator. During this time Albin conducted polygraph services for many cities and municipalities.
During his time in the Army Reserves, Albin was called back to active duty where he received a citation for the recovery of over 1 million dollars in misappropriated funds.
Albin enjoyed adventures and traveling. He bravely subjected himself and Carol to a family road trip with their four children in an arduous trek across America all while confined within the interior of a small vehicle. Later a relaxing vacation ensued or was prudently prescribed, taking Carol on her dream vacation to Hawaii and Rome.
Albin was no stranger to a horse, he enjoyed teaching his daughter Tammy equestrian skills at a very young age. He also liked antique hunting, for him and his daughter Kimber it was an adventure they both enjoyed on many occasions. He also liked to hunt and fish with his sons, grandsons, and granddaughters.
Albin is survived by his loving wife Carol of 62 years, daughters, Tammy and Kimber (Roger Gill), sons, Albin Troy (Karen) and Trevis. He is survived by his brother, Nels (Amanda), brother in-law, Barry Shelatz (Terri), 13 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Jean Joan (2 years old) and his son in-law, Donny Nottingham.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 13 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Royal-Coleman Funeral Home, 6028 U. S. Highway 6, Linesville.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. on Friday, June 14 at the funeral home with Pastor Terry Smith officiating.
Private burial with full military honors will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Harmonsburg.
