Amil Keches, 97, formerly of McKeesport, passed away on Sunday, December 25, 2016, at Concordia Nursing Home of Monroeville, where he had resided the past three years.

Born November 6, 1919, in Farrell, he was the son of John and Mary Kuric Keches.

He worked as an engineer doing research for U.S. Steel in Monroeville and retired in 1982, after 35 years.

Amil served our country in the United States Army’s 8th Infantry during World War II and earned five battlefield medals.

He was of the Catholic faith.  Amil was a member of the Youghiogheny Country Club. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed reading.

Survivors include his three brothers, John Keches of Meadville, George Keches and his wife, Mary, of Forest Hills, and Harry Keches of Palos Verdes, California; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Mike and Pete Keches; a sister, Helen Keches, four sisters-in-law, Madlyn Keches, Marjorie Keches, Frances Keches and Kathryn Keches.

Calling hours will be Wednesday from 10 until 11 a.m. at Royal-Coleman Funeral Home, 6028 U. S. Highway 6, Linesville.

A funeral service will follow the calling hours on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, with Father Chris Hamlett of St. Philip Roman Catholic Church officiating.  Full military honors will follow the service provided by the Huidekoper Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2006.

Burial will be private in St. Philip Cemetery in Linesville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in  St. Philip Church, 401 S. Mercer St., Linesville, Pa 16424.
