Andrew T. Hackworth, 102, of Linesville passed away August 5, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Ada, Ohio to Samuel J. and Selma (Jordan) Hackworth.
Andrew (Tom) attended school in Pittsburgh up to the 10th grade then joined his father running heavy construction equipment. He married Eleanor (Grabowski) Hackworth on July 6th, 1941.
Andrew served in WWII in the Navy Seabees from 1942-1945 in the Pacific Theater. Upon his return, Andrew farmed while raising his family and sought employment in Greenville. He retired from Greenville Steel Car after 23 years and then went into business with his two sons opening Jr. Oxygen Welding Supplies. He enjoyed his years of farming as well as spending quality time there and at the family pond with his kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids. He was always engineering something whether it be for the business, pond, or his family and submitted many of his projects to the US Patents office. He loved fishing, and traveling to do so, as well as his annual family card parties.
Andrew is preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor, as well as his daughter, Susan Goss and his sisters, Lilly Swaney and Kathern Latuk. He is survived by six of his children; Patricia Largent, Samuel Hackworth (Judy), Joyce Jones (Greg), Jack Hackworth (Laurie), Jill Lippert (Gary), Marianne Kephart (Michael). He and Eleanor were blessed with 22 grandchildren; Mark Largent (Kim), Debbie Scholl, Michael Goss (Stephanie) Kristina Sanderson (Jason), Sandra Kapis (Todd), John Hackworth, Steven Hackworth (Megan), Sony Gilroy (Tim), Nora Bleam, (David), Burt Jones (Lyndsay), Brad Jones (Angie), Rhea Wilson, (Travis) Andrew Hackworth, Jacob Hackworth, Darren Lippert (Michelle), Cory Lippert, Sarah Lewis, (Mark) Ashley Graff (Garrett), Kayla Poling, (Rob), Paul Bourgeois (Vanessa), Heather Riggleman (Dylan), Spencer Kephart, 2 dozen great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews, and cousins.
Friends may pay their respects at Conneautville Church of Christ, 1308 Main St., Conneautville on August 15th for calling hours from 1-3 p.m. with a Memorial Service directly to follow.
Arrangements are under the direction of Royal-Coleman Funeral Home, Linesville.
