Anna Patricia (Pat) Powers, 94, of Linesville, passed away on Saturday, December 5, 2015, at Rolling Fields in Conneautville.
Born July 4, 1921, in Caldwell, Ohio, she was the daughter of Wallace Herman and Anna Arnold Cooley. She was a 1940 graduate of Springfield High School in Ohio.
Pat moved to Pennsylvania in 1946, first living in Lake City and moving to Linesville in 1949. She was a long time employee of Lowing’s Linesville Herald and Conneaut Lake Breeze, retiring in 1980 after 24 years. She later wrote a local news column for the Community News.
Pat was a lifetime charter member of the Linesville Historical Society where she served on the Board of Trustees and was an attendant at the Gallery for many years. She was dedicated to the betterment of the Society and enjoyed enlightening the many visitors to the history of her adopted hometown.
A lifelong learner, Pat was also interested in libraries and helped during the development of the Linesville Community Library by serving as a volunteer librarian. She also served on the Board of Trustees, including several years as Secretary.
Pat enjoyed her home, friends, and her family which included many nieces and nephews whom she loved. She was fun loving, the life of any gathering she attended, and enjoyed walking, flowers, and reading.
Survivors include many nieces and nephews as well as her good friends Linda Hank and Mike Agnew, and David Schaef whose unselfish attention brought her joy and comfort during the last year of her life.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rupert Powers, whom she married June 1, 1973, her parents, and siblings Mary Elizabeth Goodrich, Sarah Connor, John Cooley, and Tom Cooley, and nephew Thomas Burell Cooley.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday from noon to 2 p.m. at Royal-Coleman Funeral Home, 6028 U.S. Highway 6, Linesville.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with Rev. Dennis E. Lawton of the Linesville and Harmonsburg United Methodist Churches officiating.
Burial will be private in Linesville Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Linesville Community Public Library, P.O. Box 97 or the Linesville Historical Society, P.O. Box 785, both of Linesville, Pa 16424.
