Bruce K. Wheeler

Bruce K. Wheeler, 61, of Linesville, passed away, Wednesday, March 18, 2015, at his residence, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born October 14, 1953, in Meadville, he was the son of E. Merwin (Mert) and Genevieve Bollard Wheeler.  He married Mary E. Deater on December 7, 1973, in Linesville.

He was a 1972 graduate of Linesville High School and Crawford County Vo-Tech School.

Bruce was a lifelong farmer on the Wheeler family farm.  For many years, he also worked as a bus driver for Anderson Bus Company.  Recently, he owned and operated Wheeler Oil.

He loved rescuing animals in the neighborhood and on the farm and would help any animal in need.  He enjoyed mechanical work and could fix anything.  Bruce cherished his grandchildren and was “Poppy” to them.   He was soft hearted and will be greatly missed by all that knew him.

Survivors include his loving wife of 41 years, Mary E. Wheeler; his mother, Genevieve Wheeler of Linesville; a daughter, Erin Douglas and her husband, Dan, of Conneaut Lake; two sons, Eric Wheeler and Jarred Wheeler both of Linesville; five grandchildren, Morgan and Marin Douglas, Katelynn, Kourtney and Zachary Wheeler; three brothers, Gary Wheeler and his wife, Marilisa, of Hartstown, Glenn Wheeler and his wife, Julie, of Linesville and Mark Wheeler of Linesville; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, E. Merwin (Mert) Wheeler, and a sister-in-law, Marianne Wheeler.

The family will receive friends on Friday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at

Royal-Coleman Funeral Home, 6028 U.S. Highway 6, Linesville.

A private service will be held at the convenience of the family.
