Carl G. (Butch) Gilliland, 83, of Conneautville, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Monday, November 27, 2023, at the Embassy of Park Avenue in Meadville.
Born January 19, 1940, in Linesville, he was the son of Kenneth and Elizabeth (Linn) Gilliland. He married Janice Young on April 17, 1962, in Erie.
Carl attended Conneaut Valley High School. He then served our country in the United States Army for 12 years including a tour of duty in Vietnam.
For 28 years, he worked in the maintenance department at Allegheny College and retired in 2005.
Carl was a member of the American Legion. He enjoyed woodworking and genealogy. Carl cherished his family especially his grandchildren.
Survivors include his loving wife of 61 years, Janice Gilliland; a daughter, Barbara (Robert) Kurtz; two sons, Jeffrey (Theresa) Gilliland and Gregory (Molly) Gilliland; four grandchildren, Madison, Hailey, Teagan and Lincoln; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 5 brothers, Clyde, Kenneth (Red), Peter, Frederick (Fritz) and William Gilliland; and a sister, Betty Troup.
Calling hours will be Friday, December 1 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Royal-Coleman Funeral Home, 6028 U.S. Highway 6, Linesville.
A funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, December 2 at the funeral home with Pastor Bruce Davis officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Meadville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Norrisville Community Church, 33225 N. Norrisville Road, Conneautville, PA 16406.
