Dana F. (Pops) McDaniel, 64, of Linesville, passed away, Tuesday, January 08, 2013, at the Meadville Medical Center after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born February 9, 1948, in Vidalia, Georgia, he was the son of Harvey and Avis Wynn McDaniel.  He married Eleanor Wolgemuth Miller on June 13, 1995 in Tennessee.

He worked as a truck driver for Watkins Motor Lines that is based out of Lakeland, Florida.  Dana had also worked for Dad’s Pet Care in Meadville.  For the past four years, he owned and operated Pops Trailer Sales in Linesville.

He was a member of the Pymatuning Sportsman’s Club in Linesville and the Station 4 VFD in Cochranton.  Dana was the Fire Police Captain for Linesville Volunteer Fire Department and was the Emergency Management Director for Conneaut Township.  He was very devoted to supporting and helping the community with his many years of service.  He enjoyed mechanical work on his cars and loved working with radio’s and scanners.  He will be greatly missed by all that knew him especially his loving granddaughter, Hannah Miller.

Survivors include his wife, Eleanor McDaniel; three daughters, Elisa McDaniel, Sheila McDaniel and Regina Hopper and her husband, Larry, all of Georgia; his step-children, Randy Miller of Linesville, Carl Miller and his wife, Lisa, of Lititz, Pa, Dwayne Miller and his wife, Sherry, of Manheim, Pa, Stacy Miller and his wife, Tina, of Meadville and Melissa Foote and her husband, Lee, of Anderson, South Carolina; 14 grandchildren; and many cousins in Georgia.

He was preceded in death by his parents and first wife, Lucy McDaniel.

As per his request, cremation was chosen and services will be private.

The family suggests memorial contributions may be made in Dana’s name to the Linesville Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 55, Linesville, Pa 16424.

Arrangements are under the direction of Royal-Coleman Funeral Home, 6028 U. S. Highway 6, Linesville.
