Delbert Richard Howard, 69, of Meadville, passed away on Wednesday, March 30, 2016, at his residence surrounded by his family.
Born June 7, 1946, in Detroit, Michigan, he was the son of James R. Brown and Ida Agnes Napier. He married Mary Elizabeth Huggins on September 10, 1969 in Chicago, Illinois.
He graduated from Emmerich Manual High School in Indianapolis, Indiana. Richard served our country in the United States Navy.
In 1994, he retired from Howard and Sons General Construction in Franklin, Indiana.
He was a member of the Elks Lodge in Franklin, Indiana and the American Legion. Richard loved going hunting and fishing. He enjoyed woodworking and tinkering around with tools. Most of all he loved spending time with his family for dinners and cookouts.
Survivors include his loving wife of 46 years, Mary Elizabeth Howard; four children, Agnes Bernice Coryell and her husband, Doug, of North Vernon, Indiana, James Richard Howard and his wife, Phillene, of Springhill, Florida, Angela Rose Stetson and her husband, Sandy, of Linesville, and Michael Alan Howard of Meadville; ten grandchildren;12 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Jimmy Brown of Indianapolis, Indiana.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a granddaughter, Sarah E. Shaw.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 9 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Royal-Coleman Funeral Home, 6028 U.S. Highway 6, Linesville.
A memorial service will follow at 4 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home with Joseph A. Vandivier, officiating.
The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made in his name to the American Cancer Society, 505 Poplar St., Suite 310, Meadville, Pa 16335.
