Edward Charles Kline Sr., 88, of Linesville, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, March 26, 2023, at his residence after a lengthy illness.
Born May 1, 1934, in Akron, Ohio, he was the son of Joe and Mary Elizabeth (Ramsey) Kline. He married Marjorie (Margie) Knierman on April 25, 1955, at St. Philip Church in Linesville.
Ed was a 1952 graduate of Linesville High School. From 1952 until 1956, he served our country in the U.S. Navy as a Gunfire Control Technician in the Mediterranean during the Korean War.
Ed worked as a truck driver for various trucking companies and retired from Hammermill Paper Company. He was a member of St. Philip Roman Catholic Church where he served as a lector, usher and custodian. He was a charter member of the Knights of Columbus Council 6037, was Past Grand Knight and also was a 4th Degree Knight.
He was a former member of the Linesville Volunteer Fire Department and a member of the Crawford Amateur Radio Society with call sign N3HWQ. Ed enjoyed camping and loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Survivors include his loving wife of 67 years, Marjorie (Margie) Kline; children, Edward (Robin) Kline Jr. of Meadville, Alan (Joan) Kline of Endwell, New York, Joseph (Barbara) Kline of Catoosa, Oklahoma, Daryl Ann (Felix) Cruz of Puerto Rico, Susan Kline of Linesville, George (Pamela) Kline of Monaca, Margie (David) Lamb of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Mary Kline (Cecil Henderson) of Greensburg, Michele (David) Staff of Cranesville and Patricia Kline of Linesville; 24 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Joseph and William Kline; two sisters, Ann Gerstenslager and Louise Staeger; and grandson, 1st Lt Eric Kline, US Army.
Calling hours will be Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Royal-Coleman Funeral Home, 6028 U.S. Highway 6, Linesville. A rosary service will be held at 7:30 p.m. by the Knights of Columbus.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Friday at St. Philip Church, 401 S. Mercer St., Linesville, with Father Joseph Petrone as celebrant.
Burial with full military honors will be in St. Philip Cemetery.
