Edward M. O’Malley, 79, of Conneaut Lake and formerly of North Braddock, passed away on Wednesday, September 28, 2022, at the Meadville Medical Center after a lengthy illness.
Born November 16, 1942, in North Braddock, he was the son of John and Marie (McMahon) O’Malley.
He was a 1960 graduate of Scott High School in North Braddock. He served our country in the United States Marines from 1960 until he was honorable discharged in 1965.
In his younger years, Ed worked as a U.S. Steel Worker until 1982. He then worked for the United States Post Office as a mail carrier for many years before retiring in 2007 and moving to Conneaut Lake.
Ed was a life-member and past commander of the Linesville Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7842 and a member of the Pymatuning Sportsman’s Club.
He was an avid golfer and loved the Pittsburgh Penguins, Steelers and Pirates.
Survivors include his loving wife, Teresa (Forro) O’Malley, who he married on January 14, 2012 at the Linesville United Methodist Church; his loving daughter, Erin (William) Boyles of Murrysville; two brothers, William O’Malley of Level Green and Dennis (Dianne) O’Malley of Kennesaw, Georgia; a sister, Peggy (Bill) Mehalik of Indianapolis, Indiana; three sister-in-law’s , Mary Lloyd of Springdale, Debbie Forro of Linesville and Mary Jo (Bryan) Burns of Cincinnati, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Martha O’Malley; father-in-law’s and mother-in-law’s , George and Jane Speelman and Ken and Izzy Lloyd; his siblings, Patrick O’Malley, Mitzie Funyak, Jack O’Malley, Tom O’Malley and Jimmy O’Malley.
The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. at Royal-Coleman Funeral Home, 6028 U.S. Highway 6, Linesville.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with Pastor Chris McLaughlin officiating. Calling hours will be held prior to the service from 10 to 11 a.m. on Monday. Full military honors will follow the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Linesville Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7842, 6913 Gehrton Road, Linesville, Pa 16424.
