Evelyn (Gehley) Poff

July 19, 1923 — January 11, 2023

It is with a saddened heart that we announce on January 11, 2023, the sweet home going of Evelyn H. Poff, to be with her Lord and Savior at the age of 99, only 6 months shy of her 100th birthday.

Evelyn was born in Aliquippa, PA on July 19, 1923 to Otto and Elizabeth (Kaster) Gehley.  Evelyn was married to the love of her life, George Sr., whom she met in 1943. They were married shortly after and went on to have four children, Charles (Chucky), George Jr., Donna, and Walt. In addition to being a dedicated and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, Evelyn loved to visit with friends and family.

Throughout Evelyn's entire life, she held an unwavering faith in God which she shared with those who were around her and often shared with them her passionate desire to “go home” to be with Jesus. She was a member of Espyville United Methodist Church. Evelyn enjoyed crocheting and puzzles. What Evelyn loved most of all was tending to her family and feeding them her home cooked meals. She was a waitress for 23 years at Wishing Well Restaurant in Andover, OH until the age of 76. She, along with her husband George Sr., was the owner/operator of Spillway Sport Shop in Linesville for 32 years.

She is survived by her children Donna Poff, Walt Poff  and his wife, Pam, and her daughter-in-law Patty Poff (wife of George Jr.); a brother, Otto Gehley. Her many grandchildren, her great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She is pictured here with one of her newer great grandchildren and namesake one year old Evelyn (Evie) Poff, she was very pleased to have one of her great grandchildren named after her.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband George Sr., her sons Charles (Chucky) and George Jr, Her Great-Grandsons Marc Anthony and Max Conley, her two brothers Ed Hahn, Eamile Gehley, her four sisters, Anna Dean, Margaret Cregar, Eleanor Long, and Betty Stief.

Revelation 21:4- And God will wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain; for the former things are passed away.

Funeral Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Columbiana County Memorial Park, East Liverpool, OH.

Memorial contributions may be made to Linesville Food Pantry 401 S. Mercer St., Linesville, PA 16424.
