Filomena F. Sorsby-Bullis, 65, of Espyville, succumbed to her courageous battle with cancer and entered into the presence of the Lord on Tuesday, March 8, 2022, surrounded by her husband, children and niece, Theresa Ann Vite. Filomena was born to Theresa Ann (Carbone) Tagliavia and Arthur Tagliavia in Brooklyn, New York on August 1, 1956.
Filomena was greeted in heaven by her parents, and siblings: Philip Gulizio, Thomas Gulizio, Arthur Tagliavia, Jr., Joseph Tagliavia, Francine (Tagliavia) Louisa, Susan (Tagliavia) Gigliello and Louis Tagliavia; niece Mary and beloved nephews Henry Zollenger and Phillip Gulizio; and John Terrace Sorsby Jr.
Filomena was of the Catholic faith. During her life she enjoyed being a skilled beautician and later a diligent caregiver. The most important thing in her life were her family and friends. Filomena was extraordinary and gave selflessly to anyone in need. She was a great mother. She overcame many obstacles and achieved many goals. Filomena was known for her incredible strength and beauty, inside and out and was often compared to a lion. She was bluntly honest. She will be remembered fondly for her unique sense of humor and her beautiful smile which would light up the room. Filomena loved to dance and listen to music; many will remember her through the songs she loved to play. She was widely known for being an Italian from Brooklyn and for her cooking which was forgettaboutit.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 40 years, Stephen James Bullis; children, John Terrace Sorsby, III, Michelle Ann Sorsby and Stephen Raymond Bullis; her grandchildren, Andrew Robert Conklin and Sandra Filomena Sorsby, whom she treasured. She was also survived by siblings, Theresa Tagliavia and Peter Tagliavia of New York; her goddaughters, Francine Castro Keezer and Christina Louisa Carollo; daughter-in-law, Krissy Paswell, as well as numerous beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends.
Initial arrangements will be private.
