Glenn Shellito, Jr., 77, of Linesville, passed away January 31, 2015, in Tampa, Florida, after a short but intense battle with Leukemia. Glenn is remembered fondly by his children, grandchildren, family, and friends as loving and lively.
Glenn was born September 8, 1937, in Meadville, the son of Glenn Sr. and Louise Braswell Shellito. He worked as a brick mason traveling between Americus, Georgia and Linesville with his father before enlisting into the Air Force. He was stationed in Swindon, England at Burderop Park AFB as a Medic in the 7505th USAF Hospital. There Glenn met his wife, Agnes "Kathy" Smith. They married on February 6, 1965 and relocated back to Linesville to begin a family.
Glenn's great passion was diving. He was a Dive Master and belonged to the Erie Skin Divers, Divers World, DAN, NAUI, and PADI. He passed this passion on to his children, all whom are certified divers, and his grandchildren whom loved going with him to watch him dive. Glenn loved sharing his dive trips with his grandchildren, showing him DVD's of his dive trips to exotic locations such as, Belize, Curaçao, and the Philippines.
Survivors include a daughter, Kelli Leech and her husband ,Chuck, of Conneaut Lake; two sons, Shawn Shellito and his wife, Rebecca, of Durham, New Hampshire and Kerry Shellito and his wife, Jennifer, of Ruskin, Florida; three grandchildren, Elizabeth Morini, Aidan Shellito, and Ryan Shellito; a brother Charles Shellito and his wife, Joan; and many sister in laws, nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Kathy Shellito on June 12, 2013.
Calling hours will be held Friday, Feb 6 from noon until 2 p.m. at the Royal-Coleman Funeral Home, 6028 US Highway 6, Linesville.
A funeral service will follow the calling hours 2 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home with Rev. Luke Oskin, of the First Baptist Church in Hubbard, Ohio officiating.
Burial with full military honors provided by the Huidekoper Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2006 will be in Linesville Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 505 Poplar St., Suite 310, Meadville, Pa 16335, the Alzheimer’s Association, 1128 State St., Suite 301, Erie, Pa 16501-1920 or the family would like to encourage all who would like to donate blood at a local blood bank in Glenn’s honor.
