Harry (Brud) A. Pistorius, 96, of Espyville, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 23, 2019, at his residence.
Born January 30, 1923, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Harry and Hilda (Froelich) Pistorius. He married Geraldine Baumiller on May 31, 1949. She preceded him in death on August 28, 2011.
Harry served our country as a PFC Radio Operator in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Fairbanks, Alaska during World War II from 1945 until he was honorably discharged in 1947. He was a 75 year member of the Steamfitters Union 449 in Pittsburgh.
He was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1810 in Brentwood. Harry was a member of the Espyville United Methodist Church. He loved going fishing, tending to his gardens and enjoyed wildlife especially feeding the birds at his house.
Survivors include his sister, Virginia Spannbauer and her husband, Joseph of Port Orange, Florida; many nieces and nephews; and many great nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, a brother, Norman Pistorius and a sister, Beatrice Emeigh.
Calling hours will be Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Royal-Coleman Funeral Home, 6028 U.S. Highway 6, Linesville.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with Pastor Gary Wade of Espyville United Methodist Church officiating.
Burial with full military honors will be in Espyville Cemetery.
