Judy Ann (Custer) Garbinski

September 1, 1943 — January 26, 2024

Judy Ann Garbinski, 80, of Linesville, passed away peacefully on January 26, 2024, at her home.

Born on September 1, 1943, she was the youngest of three siblings and only girl to Donald and Helen (Swaney) Custer.

She is survived by her son, Jeffrey; daughter Sherri (Tim) Brown; eleven grandchildren; two great grandchildren with another on the way; brother, Ronald Custer; sister-in-law, Kay Custer; and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank; son, Gregory; brother, Robert; and sister-in-law, Elaine.

Judy was born and raised in Johnstown, PA. She graduated from Westmont High School, the University of Pittsburgh where she received her master’s in education-and a member of Sigma Theta Tau and Alpha Tau Delta.  While being a professor at Kent State University Judy finished all the educational required classes for her Doctorate in Education.  Throughout her life she was a practicing registered nurse, professor, and finally the Vice President and provost for learning and student success at the Community College of Beaver County for over 24 years touching the lives of thousands of students who have become nurse, physician assistants, and doctors in the community.  Judy has scholarship award in perpetuity in her name for the Cyber School in Pennsylvania.  Judy was an active member of St. Philip Church assisting in the annual Lenten fish fry as well as other activities and fund-raising events.

Judy enjoyed boating in Erie and Pymatuning lakes with her late husband, Frank, as well as a frequent weekend shopper at the many thrift and yard sales in the Pymatuning area.  Judy was an excellent cook and loved to host annual holiday events at her homes in Beaver Falls and eventually in Pymatuning.  Friends and family anticipated her famous nut rolls every year around the holiday season that she gratefully handed out.  Judy loved the beach but the sun didn’t like her.  Most of all she cherished spending time with her family.
