Kaye Lorrene (Ellis) Scott

Kaye Lorrene Ellis Scott of Rancho Palos Verdes, California, 82, passed away peacefully at home on April 20, 2023 after a long and brave fight with dementia. She was the loving wife of Roderic M. Scott for 61 years.

Kaye was born on November 26, 1940 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania to the late Elton Emery Ellis and Marie Iyelene Arthur Ellis. She grew up in Conneautville and graduated from Conneaut Valley High School. After graduating high school, she moved to Cleveland to become a medical technician. She met Rod in Cleveland, and they married on September 11, 1961. They moved to Rancho Palos Verdes in 1972, where they raised their family.

Kaye is fondly remembered for her kind blue eyes, beautiful smile, nurturing personality and sense of humor. She loved caring for her family, sending care packages, and celebrating Christmas. Kaye was an avid reader who enjoyed baking bread and lemon meringue pies. She enjoyed being outdoors, visiting botanical gardens, and caring for birds and squirrels in the backyard.

She earned her associate’s degree in psychology at Harbor College. She volunteered with the Girl Scouts, worked in quality control for Magnavox, and sold fashion accessories at local retail stores.

Kaye is survived by her husband, Roderic; her children, Wendy Hoffer (husband, Richard), William Scott (fiancee, Rachel) and granddaughters Emily Hoffer and Caroline Scott, siblings sister Judy DeDionisio (husband, Paul) and brother Eric Ellis and sisters-in-law, Mary Jane Scott and Jeri Scott. She is survived by three nieces and nephews and seven great-nieces and nephews.

To honor Kaye’s memory, her family is holding a celebration of life on Wednesday, October 18 from 2 to 4 p.m. at Royal-Coleman Funeral Home, 6028 U.S. Highway 6, Linesville, PA.
