Laurel L. Collins, age 73, passed away on June 2, 2022, at the Meadville Medical Center. She resided in Espyville after retiring from her teaching position in Penn Hill School District where she was English department head for 20 years. Laurel was the lead teacher in Allegheny County where she helped design and implement a school to work initiative for Penn Hills School District.
She was a member of the Colonel Crawford Daughters of the American Revolution and served as Regent for seven years. She has recently written a book titled “A Small Town Legacies” which is scheduled to be available later this summer.
Laurel is survived by a sister, Terry Irons and her husband, Tom, of Espyville and a nephew, Clint Irons and his wife, Heather, and 5 grand nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents Dale and Florence Collins.
Calling hours will be Tuesday from noon until 2 p.m. at the Royal-Coleman Funeral Home, 6028 U. S. Highway 6, Linesville.
A funeral service will follow on Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Sam Marchetta officiating.
Burial will be private in Espyville Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Espyville Cemetery Association, 1855 Chapel Rd., Espyville, Pa 16424 or to the Col. Crawford DAR, c/o Jeanne Deardon, 376 Edgewood Dr., Meadville, Pa 16335.
