Luther (Gene) Miller, 80, of Conneaut Lake, passed away surrounded by his family on Saturday, February 14, 2015, at his residence after a courageous short battle with cancer.

Born August 31, 1934, in Conneaut Lake, he was the son of Donald and Lillian Hoagland Miller.

Gene served our country in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict.  He was in the Carpenters Union.  For over forty years, he was self-employed in the fur business doing butchering and fur trading.

He was affiliated with the Harmonsburg United Methodist Church.

Gene was a former member of the Linesville American Legion Post 462.  He was past president of the Conneaut Lake Sportsmans Club.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing and trapping.

Survivors include a son, James Miller and his wife, Holly, of Linesville; three daughters, Kelly Miller of Allen, Texas, Kimberly Fish and her husband, Ross, of Mansfield, Pennsylvania and Kathleen Luper and her companion, Joe King, of Conneaut Lake; five grandchildren, Ryan Fish, James Miller, Chase King, Nathan Miller and Courtney Miller; several nieces and nephews; and his faithful dog, Bear.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Richard, Jesse and Donald Miller.

As per his request, cremation will take place and a memorial service will be held at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made in Gene’s name to the Hospice of Crawford County, 464 Pine St., Meadville, Pa 16335.

The family would like to thank and honor Hospice of Crawford County and especially Karen Dygert for the care and kindness that they provided for Gene.

Arrangements are under the direction of Royal-Coleman Funeral Home, 6028 U.S. Highway 6, Linesville.
