Mary Ellen (Guyette) Halfhill

Mary Ellen Halfhill, 76, of Linesville, passed away on Sunday, June 23, 2024, at Edinboro Manor, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born September 15, 1947, in Painesville, Ohio, she was the daughter of Alvin and Ellen (Cottam) Guyette.  She married James Halfhill on April 15, 1972 and he preceded her in death on February 8, 2002.

Mary was a graduate of Ledgemont – Thompson High School in 1966.  She worked at Geauga Hospital as a physical therapy aide and then as a floor secretary.

She was a member of Thompson Methodist Church and enjoyed teaching Sunday school and vacation bible school.

Mary also enjoyed working with the 4-H kids and their animals.  She played one year with the Geauga fair band.  She also was a girl scout leader for five years and was a member of TOPS.  Mary loved to dance and bowl.

Survivors include two sons, Herman Halfhill of Linesville and Patrick Halfhill and his significant other, Teresa Walker Gosnell, of Titusville; a daughter, Margo Halfhill and her significant other, Gregory Lepley of Cochranton; three grandchildren, Cody Balogh, Jade Balogh and her significant other, Dravyn Kitelinger and James Balogh; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a brother, Walter Lee Guyette.

A celebration of Mary’s life will be held at a later date.

Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in Thompson, Ohio.

Arrangements are under the direction of Royal-Coleman Funeral Home, Linesville.
