Melvin C. Hartle, age 86, of Meadville and formerly of Conneaut Lake passed away on Saturday, August 6, 2016. He was born September 30, 1929 in Shippenville to Irvin and Mildred (Schultz) Hartle. He married Janet (Jacobs) Hartle on April 21, 1951, she survives. He was Chief of Police in Washington Twp., became a truck driver and worked for Dad's dog food for over 40 years, and currently was employed as a driver at Palmiero Toyota. He enjoyed playing his guitar and and listening to country western music. Mel also enjoyed going to antique truck shows. He is survived by his wife, a daughter Jackie Hoogerwerf and her husband Ted of Royal Oak, MI, a son, Keith Hartle and his wife Barb of Meadville, a granddaughter, Stacy Pugliese and her husband Steve of Hartstown, two great grandchildren, Sophia and Simon Pugliese both of Hartstown, several nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Sarah Slater.
A memorial service will be held Saturday at 3:00PM at the Barco Chapel in Wesbury, 31 North Park Ave., Meadville with Rev. Sam Marchetta officiating. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Wesbury Foundation, 31 North Park Ave. Meadville, Pa 16335.
