Paul Daniel (Dan) Slozat, Sr. 87, of Linesville, passed away on December 30, 2024 and entered his eternal home in heaven with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He had a long history of chronic lymphocytic leukemia and was in the ICU at Hamot Hospital. He peacefully departed this world surrounded by his loving wife, family and his pastor.
Born November 7, 1937, in Meadville, he was the son of Rev. John and Ethel (Bullis) Slozat. He married Marcella L. Jones on November 14, 1964. They were blessed to celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary last month.
Dan was a 1956 graduate of Linesville High School. He started working when he was young delivering the Meadville Tribune before school and at the Sealtest milk plant. While in junior high school he worked for the local bakery, the dry cleaners during high school, and at Westinghouse after graduation. He then worked 10 years for PennDOT and over 31 years as a UPS delivery driver. After retiring from UPS he worked for several years as a school bus driver for the local schools.
He was a member of the Pilgrim Holiness Church in Linesville and served as a lay minister and trustee. His Christian faith and helping others was a vital part of his life. His journey on earth and his service here has been a blessing to many.
Survivors include his loving wife of 60 years, Marcella; three children, Erika LeBaron and her husband, Timothy, of Virginia, Paul Slozat, Jr. and his wife, Naomi, of New York; Naomi Hart and her husband, Jack, of Ohio; six grandchildren, Paul Daniel Slozat III and his wife, Margaret, Andrew Slozat, Austin Hart and his wife, Melanie, Adrian Hart, Isaac Hart and Elias Hart; a brother, David Slozat and his wife, Christine, of Espyville; a sister, Cathy Slozat of Linesville; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Becky Williams and her husband, Bob; and a brother, Jim Slozat and his wife, Julia.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, January 3 at the funeral home with Pastor Trevor Mills officiating. Additional calling will be on Friday from 10 until 11 a.m. prior to the service.
Burial will be in Linesville Cemetery.
