Paul E. (Bob) Gehr, Jr., 90, of Linesville, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, January 31, 2022, at the Meadville Medical Center.
Born December 17, 1931, in Linesville, he was the son of Paul and Cecelia (Bodisch) Gehr. He married Alice J. Butterfield on September 29, 1973, at the Linesville First Baptist Church. Paul was known as Bob by many of his family and friends.
Paul was a 1949 graduate of Linesville High School. He then served in the United States Army in the 246th Field Artillery Missile Battalion (Corporal) from 1952 until he was honorably discharged in 1954.
He worked for Ohio Rubber in Conneautville for over 45 years as a press operator. He owned and operated the century family farm and was known for the “Best” sweet corn around.
Paul was a lifetime member of the Conneautville American Legion Post 615. He was also a member of the PA Game and Farm Hunter Access Program.
He loved anything regarding the history of WWII and airplanes along with watching documentaries and movies on them. Paul enjoyed farming and being outdoors when he could. Not only did he love farm equipment but enjoyed working on and repairing his own equipment. In his younger years, he enjoyed traveling with his family, going to Army reunions, and visiting his sister in Florida. Paul loved his cats especially Possum and Junior.
Survivors include his loving wife of 49 years, Alice Gehr; two daughters, Susan Gehr and Sara Gehr; a granddaughter, Amelia Rose Lawrence; a sister, Julianna Whilden; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, David Gehr; and a sister, Mary Sherretts.
A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 16, 2022 at Royal-Coleman Funeral Home, 6028 U.S. Hwy 6, Linesville with Rev. Joseph Rial officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until the start of the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice in Paul’s name.
