Pete A. Krachkowski Jr., 70, of Linesville, passed away on Wednesday, May 14, 2014, at UPMC Hamot in Erie.
Born September 25, 1943, in Greenville, he was the son of Peter Sr. and Mary Svorc Krachkowski. He married Shirley Anne Corey on September 21, 1963, at St. Philip Church in Linesville.
He was a 1961 graduate of St. Michael High School in Greenville. Pete had attended maintenance machine repair school for four years. Also, he attended hydraulic school in Cleveland, Ohio and computer school in Erie.
Pete served our country in the United States Army from 1961 until he was honorably discharged in 1964.
For 22 years, he was employed by Rockwell International in Ashtabula, Ohio until the plant closed in 1987. Pete then worked for 15 years as a maintenance repairman for the Werner Company in Greenville and retired in 2008.
He was a member of St. Philip Roman Catholic Church and the Knight of Columbus Council 6037. Pete was also a member of the Linesville American Legion Post 462 and a former member of the Linesville Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7842.
Pete enjoyed doing mechanical work in his garage. In his spare time, he enjoyed riding his tractor and loved driving around in his corvette.
Survivors include his loving wife of 50 years, Shirley A. Krachkowski; two sons, Ronald M. Krachkowski and his wife, Angelia, of Cochranton and Timothy J. Krachkowski and his wife, Cheryl, of Linesville; three grandchildren, Erika, Megan and Jarod; a brother, Joseph Krachkowski and his wife, Mary Frances, of Greenville; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Rosemary Krachkowski Drivere.
The family will receive friends on Saturday from 10 until 11:30 a.m. at St. Philip Church, 401 S. Mercer St., Linesville. A rosary service will be held at 9:30 a.m. prior to the visitation.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the church with Father Chris Hamlett as celebrant.
Burial with full military honors provided by the Huidekoper Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2006 will be in St. Philip Cemetery.
The family suggests memorial contributions can be made to St. Philip Church, 401 S. Mercer St., Linesville, Pa 16424.
Arrangements are under the direction of Royal-Coleman Funeral Home, 6028 U.S. Highway 6, Linesville.
