Richard E. Reisinger Jr., 84, of Atlantic passed away, peacefully on Monday, June 30, 2014, surrounded by his family at the Marquette Hospice House in Meadville.
Born May 8, 1930, in Baker Hill, he was the son of Richard E. Sr. and Ruth Miller Reisinger. He married Betty L. Roberts on May 14, 1955 in Oil City.
Richard served in the United States Army for two years during the Korean War . He also served four years in the United States Reserves and five years in the National Guard.
He started working at American Viscose when he was 15 years old. In 1992, he retired from Channellock in Meadville after 28 years working as forger.
Richard was a member of the Cochranton American Legion Post 836 and was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2006 in Meadville.
He loved singing country music especially Hank Williams Sr. songs and playing his guitar. Richard enjoyed hunting, fishing and woodworking. Most of all he loved spending time with his family and cherished his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include his loving wife of 59 years, Betty L. Reisinger; seven children, Debra Sheatz of Atlantic, Sherry Maddox of Meadville, Wanda Reisinger of Meadville, Tina Burch of Meadville, Diana Skinner and her husband, Ricky Staats of Williamsfield, Ohio, Richard E. Reisinger III and his wife, Stacie, of Meadville and Roger A. Reisinger and his wife, Cherie of Saegertown; 18 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Glenn Reisinger and his wife, Darlene, of Cape Coral, Florida, Lloyd Reisinger and his wife, Brandy, of Cochranton and Dale Reisinger of Conneautville; a sister, Shirley Long of Meadville; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Donald, Kenneth, Billy and Jerry; and a grandson, Derek Skinner.
Calling hours will be Wednesday 4 to 8 p.m. at Royal-Coleman Funeral Home, 6028 U.S. Highway 6, Linesville.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with Rev. Marshall Lillie, chaplain of Hospice of Crawford County, officiating.
Burial with full military honors provided by Huidekoper Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2006 will be in Cochranton Cemetery.
