Richard (Dick) John Tokarski, 89, of Saxonburg, formerly of Linesville, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 10, 2024, at Magnolia Place in Saxonburg, after a courageous two year battle with Alzheimer’s.
Born June 9, 1935, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of John and Mary (Kruckles) Tokarski. He married Martha (Marty) Shawley on August 3, 1957, at the Eglin Air Force Base Chapel in Fort Walton, Florida. She preceded him in death on August 11, 2019.
Richard was a 1954 graduate of Oliver High School in Pittsburgh. He served our country in the United States Air Force and was stationed for a tour in the Philippines. Richard worked for AT&T Long Lines as a technician and retired at the age of 51.
He was a member of St. Philip Roman Catholic Church in Linesville. He was also a member of the National American Legion and the Ultralight Society. Richard was a craftsman, an avid pianist and an avid fisherman. He was a faith filled man whose goal in life was to make everyone laugh and smile. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him.
Survivors include six children, Dennis Tokarski and his wife, Cara, of Irwin, Wendy Cooney and her husband, Jim, of New Castle, Sherry Matous of Bellevue, Linda Dankert and her husband, John, of Ocala, Florida, Susan Herndon and her husband, Jeff, of Hermitage, and Russell Tokarski and his wife, Tara, of Lusby, Maryland; 14 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a son-in-law, Mike Matous; a sister, Mary Evelyn Brink; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends and family can call on Thursday, October 17 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Royal-Coleman Funeral Home, 6028 U.S. Highway 6, Linesville.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. on Friday, October 18 at St. Philip Roman Catholic Church, 401 S. Mercer St., Linesville with Father Chris Hamlett as celebrant. Additional calling hours will be on Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 at the funeral home.
Burial with full military honors will follow in St. Philip Cemetery.
