Richard (Dick) Carl Blackhurst

Richard (Dick) Carl Blackhurst, 63, of Linesville, passed away on Thursday, August 17, 2017, after a lengthy illness, at UPMC Mercy in Pittsburgh.

Born March 31, 1954, in Meadville, he was the son of George and Estaleta Peterman Blackhurst.  He married Patricia (Patty) Whalen on August 31, 1990.

Dick was a 1972 graduate of Conneautville High School.  He worked in Tool and Die as a Grinder Specialist and retired in 2008.

He was a member of the Pymatuning Sportsman’s Club in Linesville.   He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping.  Dick liked watching Drag Strip Racing and going with his wife to Penn State football games.  He loved spending time on his patio with family and friends.

Survivors include his loving wife of 26 years, Patricia (Patty) Blackhurst; a daughter, Kelly Proudfoot and her husband, John, of State College, Pennsylvania; a son, Sergeant Jamie Proudfoot and his wife, Csilla, of South Korea; a grandson, Talon; a granddaughter, Lily; a sister, Kathy Cree and her husband, Bob, of Lucerne, Indiana; his father-in-law, Leo T. Whalen of Linesville; his brother-in-law’s and sister-in-law’s, Leo P. Whalen of Ames, Iowa, Kathy Mickle and her husband, Larry, of Howard, Ohio and Danny Whalen and Robin of Linesville; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.

Arrangements are under the direction of Royal-Coleman Funeral Home, 6028 U. S. Highway 6, Linesville.
