Robert Michael Cervenak, 86, of Linesville, formerly of Lakewood, Ohio, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, July 30, with his family by his side.

He was born on July 26, 1929 at home in Cleveland, Ohio to David and Anna Chervenak Cservenyak. He spent his early years with his maternal grandmother in Byesville, Ohio.  He was then raised by his mother and step-father, John Cibula in Cleveland.   Bob enlisted in the United States Maritime Service at age fifteen.  He was signed for by John Cibula because he was underage.  He trained under Maritime Service and graduated to Merchant Marines, where he served for 2 years.   He then enlisted in the Army for 2 more years and went to officers’ candidate school of the Merchant Marines.  Although he sailed the Great Lakes he didn’t have enough sea time to make officers school so he came back to Cleveland and went to barber school.

It was then that he met his bride of 60 years, Mary Ann Dvorak. They were married on June 25, 1955, at Holy Family Church in Cleveland, Ohio. Prior to getting married Robert changed the spelling of his last name on October 22, 1954 to please his bride who thought the name had too many letters.

Bob was a licensed barber for many years and worked in shops around Cleveland.  He then went to work for a division of Coca Cola Company in vending services where he retired from Cup Vending after 29 ½ years of service.  After retiring Bob and Mary Ann moved to their summer home in Linesville, which they built in 1959.  They spent the last 17 winters in Florida.  Just recently they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary at a beach house in Duck, North Carolina with their family.

Bob was a member of the Mushroom Club of America, the Jim Beam Bottle Club, and the Pymatuning Sportsman Club in Linesville.  He enjoyed "living off the land", gardening, wine-making, fishing, going to casinos, and playing cards.

Robert is survived by his five children: Barbara Gillmore and her husband, Richard, and their children, Lisa and Chris; Mary Lou Ringle and her husband, Dean, and their daughter’s, Melanie Ringle and Kelly Doyle and her husband, Eric, and their son, Emmett; Thomas Cervenak; Nancy Koprowski and her husband, John, and their children, Emma and Zach; and Sheree Eberly and her husband, LeRoy, and their children, Gabby and Holly.  He is also survived by his brothers, Edward Cervenak of Naples, Florida and John Cibula and his wife, Donna, of Colorado Springs, Colorado; a sister Frances Naumann of Palm Harbor, Florida; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and step-father.

A memorial mass will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 29 at St. Philip Roman Catholic Church, 401 S. Mercer St., Linesville, with Father Chris Hamlett as celebrant.  Full military honors will be conducted at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Philip Church or Hospice of Crawford County, 464 Pine Street, Meadville, Pa 16335.
