With great sadness, we announce the passing of Robert M. Mihoci, a cherished member of the Conneaut Lake community, known affectionately by his friends as "Soup Bone". Robert, 84, peacefully passed away on June 26, 2023, following a brief illness.
Born on May 8, 1939, in the town of Espyville, PA, Robert was the beloved son of Steve and Rose (Lilak) Mihoci. He married the love of his life Norma Jane Williams on August 23, 1958, at St. Philip Church in Linesville.
Robert, or "Bob" as he was often called, was a proud 1957 alumnus of Conneaut Lake High School, where his unstoppable hook shot earned him a basketball scholarship to Youngstown State University. He spent the majority of his working life at Greenville Steel Car, embodying the spirit of hard work. Upon retirement, his dedication continued at Excalibur Machine Co. Bob's strong work ethic, carried on by his children and grandchildren, is a true reflection of his character.
Always a sports enthusiast, Bob found pleasure in golfing, softball, fishing, and nurtured a passion for woodworking. He was his family's biggest sports fan, always present at every game, cheering on his children and grandchildren. Quick with a smile and always up for a chat, he turned acquaintances into friends in no time. His outgoing personality and easy-going attitude drew people to him, and his hearty laugh and stature made him impossible to forget.
Robert's legacy lives on through his four loving children: Susie Miller and her husband, Mark, of Conneaut Lake, Robert Mihoci and his wife, Diana, of Conneaut Lake, Richard Mihoci and his wife, Karen, of Murrysville and Michael Mihoci of Conneaut Lake; his nine cherished grandchildren: Garrett Miller and his fiance Brooke, Chase Miller and his wife Lanie, Logan, Drake, Ryan and his wife Morgan, Adam, Matthew, Mary and her fiance Michael, & Mason Mihoci; and his great-grandson, Rowan Miller. He is also survived by his twin sisters, Janet Frye and Jane Smith, a sister-in-law, Nancy Fry (Ed), a brother-in-law, Lyle Hoovler, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Robert was preceded in death by his loving parents Steve and Rose; his devoted wife Norma; an infant daughter; sisters-in-law Fran Walton and Mary Lou Hoovler; and brothers-in-law Frank Frye and Lee Smith.
In keeping with Robert's wishes, services will be private and held at a future date. Interment will take place at Our Lady Queen of the Americas Cemetery in Conneaut Lake, where he will be laid to rest next to his beloved wife, Norma.
