Robert W. Schmidt

Robert W. Schmidt, 81, of Espyville, passed away on Monday, December 10, 2018, at his residence surrounded by his family and friends.

Born April 7, 1937, in Duquesne, he was the son of the late William and Peg Huwalt Schmidt.  He married Patty Truhan on August 14, 1976, at St. Joseph Church in Duquesne.

He graduated from Duquesne High School in 1956 and then attended the University of Pittsburgh.

Bob worked for U.S. Steel Homestead as a machinist and also as a supervisor before he retired.  He then worked at Holiday Camplands for 20 years in security and later in buildings and grounds.

He was a member of St. Philip Roman Catholic Church where he served as an usher.  He also was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 6037.

Bob was an avid hunter and fisherman.  He enjoyed woodworking and loved the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Survivors include his loving wife of 42 years, Patty Schmidt; his mother-in-law, Pat Truhan; his brother-in-law’s and sister-in-law’s, Frank Truhan, David Truhan (Chris), Pam Pasinsky (Pete), Dan Truhan (Nancy) and Steve Truhan; his nieces and nephews, Frank Jr., Stephanie (Brad), Bryan (Ashley), Brandon (Carly), Beth (Steve), Kayla and Kristy; great-nieces and great-nephews, Graden, Sophia, Mary Faith, Brantley and Roland; and other nieces and nephews, Derek, Grant, Weston, Adam, Kayla and Katelyn.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Friday at St. Philip Roman Catholic Church, 401 South Mercer Street, Linesville, with Father Chris Hamlett as Celebrant.

Burial will be in St. Philip Cemetery.
