Vern Edward Kneubehl, 65, of Linesville, passed away Wednesday, February 19, 2014, at Select Specialty Hospital in Erie.
Born January 20, 1949, in Meadville, he was the son of Donald and Dorothy Young Kneubehl. He married Nancy Sutliff on January 24, 1981 in Espyville; she preceded him in death on September 8, 2000.
He served our country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. In his earlier years, Vern worked as a roofer.
He was a member of the Vietnam Vets Post 52 in Meadville and the Linesville Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7842.
Vern enjoyed fishing and loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include four children, Christina Daugherty and her husband, Scott, of Hinesville, Georgia, Verna Stafford Walker and her husband, Ben, of Linesville, James Kneubehl and his fiancé, Anna Kotlar, of Cambridge Springs, Lisa Reinhart and her husband, Mark, of Jamestown; his step-children, Kimberly Atnip of Asheville, North Carolina, Kenneth Atnip and his wife, Christine, of Guys Mills, Mark Thomas and his wife, Tracy, of Linesville, William Meehan and his wife, Brenda, of Jamestown, Gary Meehan of Linesville, Jerry Meehan of Jamestown, and Jon Bone of Linesville; five grandchildren, Brittany Reinhart of Jamestown and her boyfriend, Braden Gladysz, of Greenville and Allysa Reinhart of Jamestown, Brianna Stafford of Linesville, Benjamin Walker Jr. of Linesville and Jesse Daugherty of Hinesville, Georgia; many step-grandchildren; three brothers, Jim Kneubehl and his wife, Linda, of Saegertown, Gary Kneubehl of Meadville and George Kneubehl of Saegertown; three sisters, Norma Hall of Meadville, Barbara Bacon and her husband, William, of Conneautville and Carol Koren of Meadville; and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank his long time caregiver, Audrey Thompson, of Westford for the care and kindness she had given Vern.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Nancy Kneubehl, and a sister, Diane Beuchat.
Calling hours will be Sunday from 2 to 6 p.m. at Royal-Coleman Funeral Home, 6028 U.S. Highway 6, Linesville.
A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home with Pastor Philip Torre of the First Assembly of God Church in Meadville officiating.
Burial with full military honors provided by the Huidekoper Veterans of Foreign Wars will be in Linesville Cemetery.
