Violet G. Gedeon, 93, of Linesville, passed away on Saturday, May 18, 2019, at her residence surrounded by the love of her family.
Born February 7, 1926, in Warren, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Lena (Loutner) Kessman. She married her beloved Arthur B. Gedeon on May 15, 1948, at St. Mary’s Church in Warren, Ohio. She and Arthur moved to Linesville in 1990 and he preceded her in death on December 31, 2013.
She was a loving and devoted homemaker. For six years, Violet had worked at Ohio Lamp.
She was a member of St. Philip Roman Catholic Church in Linesville. For eleven years, she was a volunteer with the Red Cross. Violet was a swimming instructor and taught First Aid, CPR, and Adapted Aquatics for handicapped children.
Violet was a lover of nature and enjoyed fishing, woodworking, bird watching, arrowhead hunting, crafting, was an avid gardener and a great cook. Violet will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Survivors include seven children, Kathleen Zeleny and her husband, Paul, of Newton Falls, Ohio, Mary Ann Silman of Warren, Ohio, Richard Gedeon of Conneaut Lake, Robert Gedeon and his wife, Samantha, of Yuma, Arizona, Susanne Gedeon and her companion, Gregg Sichner, of Mentor, Ohio, Thomas Gedeon of Linesville, and Barbara Williams and her husband, Mark, of South Charleston, West Virginia; 16 grandchildren; 5 step-grandchildren; and 6 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband; a grandson, Gregory Silman; 2 sisters, Mary Shenosky and Lena Kessman; and her brother, Frank Kessman.
Calling hours will be Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Royal-Coleman Funeral Home, 6028 U.S. Highway 6, Linesville.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Philip Roman Catholic Church, 401 S. Mercer St., Linesville, with Father David Carter as celebrant.
A meal at the church will follow the mass after which a burial will be in All Souls Cemetery in Cortland, Ohio.
