William Richard Pilarcik, 78, of Linesville, passed away on Thursday, September 18, 2014, at his residence surrounded by his loving family following a long courageous battle with pulmonary fibrosis.
Born March 8, 1936, in Perryopolis, he was the son of Michael and Catherine Vozenilek Pilarcik. He married Celestine (Celeste) Angelo on April 22, 1972, in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Perryopolis.
He was a 1954 graduate of Lower Tyrone High School in Perryopolis. He served our country as an aircraft mechanic in the United States Air Force and held the rank of staff sergeant.
Bill worked in maintenance for Rockwell International in Ashtabula, Ohio. He had also worked for Garvin Industries in Adamsville and for fourteen years was a groundskeeper for St. Philip Church in Linesville.
Since 1960, he was a member of St. Philip Roman Catholic Church and had served on the parish council. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 6037.
Bill enjoyed hunting, gardening and doing yard work. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates fan. Most of all he loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his loving wife of 42 years, Celeste Pilarcik; four children, Diane Davis and her husband, George, of Linesville, Steven Pilarcik and his wife, Tammy, of Middletown, Maryland, Brian Pilarcik and his wife, Maria, of Linesville, and Amanda Davis and her husband, Christopher, of Linesville; nine grandchildren, Megan Pilarcik of Gettysburg, Seth Pilarcik and his wife, Alyssa, of Middletown, Zachary Davis, Sarah Davis, Dominic Davis, Joseph Davis, Michael Pilarcik, Samuel Pilarcik, Gabriel Pilarcik all of Linesville and are expecting one more grandchild; a great-grandson, Calvin Pilarcik; a brother, Thomas Pilarcik and his wife, Barbara, of Wilbraham, Massachusetts; three a sister-in-law’s, Margaret Pilarcik of Elizabeth, Florence Pilarcik of Clarkston, Michigan and Jamie Pilarcik of Perryopolis; a brother-in-law, Edward Bubnash of Perryopolis; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; eight brothers, John, Joseph, Albert, Charles, Paul, Robert and infant brother’s Michael and Frank; and two sisters, Mary Higginbotham and Dorothy Bubnash.
Calling hours will be Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Royal-Coleman Funeral Home, 6028 U.S. Highway 6, Linesville. A rosary service will be conducted at 4:45 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Philip Roman Catholic Church, 401 S. Mercer St., Linesville, with Father Chris Hamlett and Father John Barwin concelebrating.
Bu rial with full military honors provided by Huidekoper Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2006 will be in St. Philip Cemetery.
