William (Bill) Edward Stanley

June 15, 1936 — July 2, 2022

William (Bill) Edward Stanley (86), of Linesville, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully in Hamilton, Georgia, on Saturday, July 2, 2022, after wrestling hard against a cancer diagnosis. We can announce with great confidence that he no longer needs a walker and is likely to have entered heaven doing what he so enjoyed most of his adult life:  DANCING! Not on an old gym floor, but on streets of gold! Though he longed to be home, Bill spent his final days in Georgia, surrounded by family, including his wife of 60+ years, Donna Marie (Scheppelmann) Stanley. He thanked God every day for the love and care of his family and friends, near and far. A man of quiet influence, Bill’s greatest joys included serving, mentoring and caring for friends, family and loved ones in his home and around the community. He will be missed.

Installed into the United States Air Force at Shaw Air Force base in 1954, Bill served four years in the 432nd Air Reconnaissance as an Airman 1st Class Jet Mechanic and four years in the Air Force Reserves. Bill began a 42-year career with Molded Fiber Glass in Linesville in 1959 and retired as their Plant Manager in 2001. Following retirement, he began traveling to Sebring, FL every fall with Donna, the love of his life. Spending winters there, they enjoyed summers in Linesville at their home of nearly sixty years.

Bill loved the life he and Donna created together. He loved being outside, whether hunting, mowing, tacking down the roof or just sitting in the yard appreciating the wildlife and his coffee. He especially enjoyed hanging with friends and family around the fire pit. Intentional and soft spoken, Bill was an amazing husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother, coworker, and friend. He was proud of his people–each and every one of them–and loved them each well, leading and loving by example.

Bill was born in Oil City, PA, to the late Ira George and Eva Catherine (Hayes) Stanley. He is preceded in death by both parents, his siblings, George E. and Ira Eugene (11/21/1997), and grandson, William Steven Stanley (6/19/2008). He is survived by his sister, Ferda Mae Bates, his brother, Howard Thomas (Tuc) Stanley; his wife, Donna M. (Scheppelmann) Stanley; daughters, Cheryl Lynn (Les) Corey, Robin M. Stanley, and Denise L. S. (Robert) Eckley; son, James E. (Cheryl Rae) Stanley; grandchildren, Nikki M. Davis, Justin J. Corey, Damian P. Tucker, Jennarae E. Roman, Everie A. Stanley, Caleb E. V. Eckley, several great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
